XClip Pro is a "bring your own key" (BYOK) tool that keeps your data in your own browser. The developer operates no server for this extension, has no database, and does not receive, log, sell, or share any of your data.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no tracking pixels, no cookies of our own, and no advertising. The developer cannot see how you use the extension.

What is stored, and where

All settings are stored locally on your device via chrome.storage and are never transmitted to us:

• Your chosen AI provider, model, and your own API key.
• Your interface preferences (summary language, theme).
• Local usage counters (how many summaries / chats you ran) — kept only on your device.

You can erase all of it any time by removing the extension, or via chrome://extensions → Details → clear extension data.

What is sent, when, and to whom

The extension makes network requests only in response to your actions, to exactly these destinations:

1. YouTube (youtube.com) — to read the caption/transcript data of the video you are currently viewing. This is the site you are already on.
2. The AI provider you choose (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, OpenRouter, or Alibaba DashScope) — only when you click Summarize, Chat, Skills, or clean the transcript. At that moment the transcript text (and your question, for Chat) is sent to that provider, authenticated with your own API key, directly from your browser. It does not pass through us. Your use of that provider is governed by the provider's own privacy policy and terms.

No transcript, question, summary, key, or any other data is transmitted at any other time or to anyone else.

Permissions and why they are needed

• activeTab / scripting — to read the caption data of the YouTube tab you invoke the extension on.
• storage — to save your settings and API key locally (see above).
• sidePanel — to show the Transcript / Summary / Chat panel.
• clipboardWrite — to let you copy the transcript / summary.
• Host access to youtube.com and the six AI-provider API domains — solely to fetch captions and to send your requests to the provider you chose with your own key.

We do not request access to your browsing history, other sites, bookmarks, or any data beyond what is listed here.

Children

The extension is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL and shipped with the extension.
